Pacific Coast Tour MKAL
Our 2024 adventure spans the states (and one Canadian province) that touch the Pacific Ocean: Hawaii, California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia (where our yarn partner, SweetGeorgia, resides!), and Alaska.
As we travel virtually from tropics, to deserts, to lush forests, to deep winters, we'll use our yarn and needles to capture the essence of each region, creating a beautiful and meaningful rectangular shawl that you’ll enjoy wearing for years to come.
If you’ve joined us on our previous MKALs, you’ll find that this year is quite different! We’re using worsted-weight yarn as opposed to fingering weight, and our designs are all about texture. The difficulty level of project is appropriate for newer knitters, but experienced knitters will enjoy the easy travels. Smooth transitions from one section to the next make this a perfect option for gradient or ombré colorways.

The Pacific Coast Tour pattern is available for presale on Ravelry. Purchase now and get the Packing List right away. Once the Mystery Knit Along kicks off on Local Yarn Store Day (April 27, 2024) clues will be released as pattern updates from Ravelry. The early-bird price of $4.98 is good through April 27, 2024. After that, the price will increase.

We welcome iTry Studios (formerly Potomac Bead Company) in Alexandria, MN as our official Bead Partner. Owners Deb Kerr and Kyle Anderson retired from teaching school in central Pennsylvania and moved to Minnesota where they opened their brick and mortar store in 2015.
iTry Studios is much more than a bead shop - they carry yarns, looms, wine making supplies... all sorts of DIY materials. Deb loves knitting with beads (she learned that from Cynthia!) and is happy to help you choose beads for your knitted project.
If your Local Yarn Shop doesn't carry beads, iTry Studios is a great option. They have put together a variety of bead suggestions for each of our official color combos from SweetGeorgia, and if you've chosen an alternate color combo, they are happy to help you find the perfect beads.
